Let us take you to Uganda’s 2nd tallest mountain for a hiking adventure, as well as leisure at the country’s most romantic waterfalls, Sipi falls.
During this tour, you’ll be served to exciting views of bustling towns, vibrant Gishu culture, verdant coffee plantations and community experiences. The region is also home to over 290 bird species with 40 species unique to this region. Some unique birds here are Green backed pegion, Hartlaub’s Turaco, Black collared apalis, mustached green tinker bird and Tacazze sunbirds.
Some primates and mammals will also be sighted on a hike along Elgon slopes; ranging from Black and White colobus monkeys, spotted hyenas, bushbucks, duikers, tree squirrel and blue monkeys.

Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Sipi region, through Mbale city.
Have an early departure from Kampala after breakfast, heading to the eastern region. The experience begins from Jinja – East Africa’s adventure capital which is also home to the source of world’s longer river. Visit the source of River Nile on a boat and take as many photos as you can. Jinja is full of beautiful sights and sounds.
Have lunch at any restaurant and depart for Mbale city in the afternoon. This is a city of Gishu culture, with the most popular being Imbalu circumcision ceremony which is an initiation event where boys are initiated into men.
Proceed to Sipi area in Kapchorwa district on the western slopes of Mount. Elgon. These romantic falls are surrounded by lush coffee plantations and bustling local communities. Depending on your time of arrival, check in at the lodge and go for an interesting coffee tour in the neighboring communities where you’ll learn about the history of Arabica coffee in this area, how it’s grown, processed and have a taste.
Day 2: Explore Mount. Elgon and Sipi Falls.
This is an adventure day, where you will take to the slopes of gigantic Mount. Elgon. The mountain towers to great heights of 4,321m above sea level, lying along the Kenya-Uganda border. Elgon is worldly known for its largest Caldera and the largest base of extinct volcanoes.
A half day hike begins from Kapkwai information center and takes you to the rugged slopes teeming with lush alpine forest, moorland and mosaic vegetation; as well as numerous primate species including olive baboons, vervet monkeys, and so many other mammal species.
Return to the base of the mountain after this exploration, enjoy lunch and if you have time continue with a hike to Sipi falls. The Sipi trail brings one to the Kapkwai caves, talking tree and the mystic Chebonet falls.
Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala. Departure.
Have breakfast and exit the Sipi region; drive through Mbale and Jinja cities – explore the source of the mighty River Nile if you didn’t visit it on the first day. Proceed to Kampala / Entebbe airport for an evening flight back home or hotel depending on your schedule.
