10 Days Best of Rwanda Safari

The 10 days Rwanda safari offers the best of a classic African vacation in Rwanda, The Land of a Thousand Hills. This safari package covers enchanting activities ranging from gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park, chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park, game viewing in Akagera National Park and cultural experience. Your trip will commence & end in Kigali, Rwanda.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Kigali city expedition & drive to Akagera N/park

Enjoy your cup of Rwanda tea/coffee and after, you will enjoy a 2 hours’ Kigali city expedition. Lunch thereafter, then drive about 2 and half hours to Akagera National Park, Eastern Rwanda.

Day 2: Game drive & Launch cruise experience.

Take your cup of tea or coffee and after, have an exciting game drive for 2 to 3 hours along the savanna plains of Akagera Rwanda. Enjoy excellent view of wildlife in 4×4 pop-up roof jeep including elephants, giraffes, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos, antelopes, birds and others.

Return to the lodge for lunch and get some relaxation before setting off for boat/launch cruise on Lake Ihema. You will have an intense 2-3 hours’ enjoying sight of hippos, crocodiles, water birds while on a boat cruise.

Day 3: Akagera to Parc National des Volcans.

Breakfast early morning and later, leave Akagera for Parc National des Volcans in Ruhengeri. This is a road trip lasting for 4-5 hours’ drive in a well-mechanized 4×4 rental vehicle.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking.

After you have had a leisurely cup of tea/coffee, briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette at the park offices. Begin a trek to see a gorilla family allocated to you at 8:00am and you will spend 2-6 hours. Get back after the magical encounter with mountain gorillas that you will enjoy for 1 hour. Relax for the rest of evening at the lodge in Rwanda’s Parch National des Volcans.

Day 5: Golden monkey Ruhengeri & Iby’Iwacu cultural tour.

Rise up for a memorable breakfast and after, briefing on golden monkey etiquette. At exactly 8:00am, begin the actual trek to view golden monkeys lasting you 2-4 hours which also covers one hour with golden monkeys.

Retreat from your unforgettable golden monkey trek and later in the evening, be part of the Iby’Iwacu cultural village experience.

Day 6: Dian Fossey tomb hike.

Once you have had a delicious breakfast, briefing at Kinigi offices before you go spend 2-4 hours on a trek to the Dian Fossey tomb site. This is a short trek taking you through in-depth exploration about Dian Fossey and her gorilla conservation legacy. Relax in the evening at the lodge of choice that was booked for you.

Day 7: Leave Parc National des Volcans and travel to Lake Kivu for a boat ride

Breakfast early morning and after, vacate Ruhengeri for Lake Kivu in Rubavu. You will have lunch and in the evening, just chill while sand bathing.

Day 8: Lake Kivu to Nyungwe Forest, Southern Province

Get up for morning breakfast and after, go for an exciting boat ride on Lake Kivu. Later, leave for Nyungwe Forest National Park, a home to 13 species of primates.

Day 9: Nyungwe chimp tracking & canopy walk.

Get to Uwinka Reception for briefing shortly on chimp tracking rules. At 8:00am, the guide leads you on a trek to see chimpanzees taking you for 2 to 4 hours and this covers 1 hour of a close encounter with chimpanzees. In the afternoon, you have all 2-3 hours to enjoy on a canopy walk.

Day 10: 6 hours’ drive back to Kigali from Nyungwe forest.

Breakfast and meet your driver guide for a return journey to Kigali, Rwanda, 6 hours’ drive from Nyungwe forest. Drop off at the airport or hotel in Kigali.

End of your vacation.
