12 Days Explore Rwanda Safari

Rwanda is where the adventure begins, with a package like this, that comes with no extra cost, except if you intend to make extras, so don’t make your 12days vacation end with no proof. We take you to authentic cultures, primate hubs, and unspoiled national park.

Here you encounter mountain gorillas and Golden monkeys at the unspoiled volcanoes national park, Africa Big 5 (Rhinos, elephants, Buffaloes, leopards, and lions) at Akagera National park, our cousins the Chimpanzees at Nyungwe national park, and exploring the captivating Lake Kivu shorelines.  We take care of your safety, accommodation, transportation, and happiness from the start to the end of the trip. Pickup and drop-off are at Kigali international airport.

Detailed Trip.

Day 1: Kigali city tour.

Upon landing at the airport, you will be welcome to the land of a thousand hills for your 12-day safari by our experienced driver guide. This pickup will be followed by a tour around Kigali City; one of the smartest and safest cities in the world, with security all around, active city dwellers, and historical, cultural, and modern attractions.

Three places will be covered in this tour, the museum, genocide memorial site, and the local markets to learn the Rwandese way of bargaining and purchase a few items. Lunch will be in the city. Dinner and a peaceful nap will be at your hotel.

Day 2: Drive to Volcanoes national park – cave exploration.

Enjoy the sunrise breakfast at the hotel, and then head to volcanoes national park-a prime safari destination in Rwanda, offering asylum to the rare endangered mountain gorillas. The drive lasts for approximately 2-3 hours, traversing the rolling Hills, scattered homesteads, and many more breathtaking types of scenery.

You will arrive at the park for lunch, and then visit Musanze caves for a one-hour exploration. The cave is large and dark, with colonies of Bats, and the one hour set aside for a great experience. End this day with dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking.

It is expected that on this day, you leave the lodge after breakfast very early in the morning, and then drive to the park headquarters for Briefing and document verification; an activation that can last for approximately 30 mins. Gorillas are social yet mobile creatures, and tracking them can last for approximately 1-6 hours plus an extra hour for taking photos, watching the young star’s samousalt, the magical eyes of the silverback, and the mothers’ breastfeed their young ones.

After tracking, you will be issued a Gorilla tracking certificate, before returning to the lodge for lunch, and then spending the evening relaxing at the lodge, while waiting for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and cultural experience.

After greeting your intestines with a lip-smacking breakfast meal at the lodge, there will be a rewarding golden monkey trekking at the park. Your driver will pick you up very in the morning for a drive to the park headquarters for briefing and the start of the tracking experience. Golden monkeys are so cheerful, and require full attention to grab them play, feed, or skip from one tree branch to another.

Depending on your trekking speed, meeting these Apes might take about 1-4 hours plus an extra of one hour for watching, and taking photos.

Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for lunch, and then spend the evening exploring the cultural community surrounding volcanoes national park. Dinner and overnight marks the end of this day

Day 5: Drive to Akagera National Park.

You will brighten your morning with a cup of coffee early morning, and then checkout for a drive to a wildlife hub; Akagera national park; the only park in Rwanda with mammals. The drive is truly amazing, with the Lunch en-route, the beautiful views of undulating hills, and flourishing plantations.

You will enjoy a sunset drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight, but a few mammals can come your way to the park.

Day 6: Full day game drive.

Out in the wild after breakfast, this full-day game drive reveals a captivating landscape, variety of plant species, and mammals among others. You will seek to find; the lions, leopards, and cheetah which are rare though present, elephants, cape Buffaloes, Rhinos, zebras, giraffes, warthogs and several others, primates and birds.

Akagera national park is the only park for game viewing in Rwanda, and in it will you have a bush breakfast and picnic lunch, before returning to the lodge for refreshment, dinner, and overnight.

Day 7: Morning guided nature walk and drive to Nyungwe National Park.

This day’s morning attention goes to the flourishing plantations, and in the 1-2 hour guided nature walk, you get to submit to the beauty riches of mother nature; the birds singing and the landscape so breathtaking, luring your heart to take photos, and explore more.

Thereafter, you will return to the lodge for early lunch, after which you will checkout for a comfortable drive to Nyungwe national park; home to over 13 primate species, enjoying the breathtaking sight of the rolling hills, scattered homesteads, and sweet weather.  You will transition to your lodge in the park for dinner and overnight on the boat.

Day 8: Full day birding experience.

This day starts with a yummy breakfast meal at the lodge, and then with your equipment’s; camera, binoculars, and a birding book, you will join an expert birder for a 6-hour birding experience in the tropical forest, identifying the birds by their beak, eyes, feather color, feet, and size.

There are over 275 bird species; migrants, endemic and non-endemic species, with some of the species including the sunbirds, Turacos, and Grauer’s warbler among others. You will have a lunch break, and then return to the lodge in the evening for some rest, before dinner and a nap.

Day 9: Nyungwe forest chimpanzee trekking and Canopy walk.

After breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for registration and briefing, before the start of the trekking experience; an activity that can last for approximately 1-5 hours, with a bonus of a maximum of one hour for photography, and closely watching the apes. Chimpanzees are closely related to humans, with over 98.7% similar genes.

Their sound, feeding and appearance are so captivating. After encountering these Apes, and several other primates in this Jungle, notably; the Columbus monkeys, vervet monkeys, and baboons among others, you will return to the lodge for lunch, and then a canopy walk follows; a 2-3 hour experience, catching the aerial view of the landscape, plants, and birds playing on the treetops.

Day 10: Transfer to Lake Kivu, Kibuye – evening boat cruise.

The day starts with a lip-smacking breakfast meal at the lodge, and an optional activity, before transferring to Lake Kivu. There will be a fresh rest with Lunch on arrival at the lodge at Lake Kivu, and then explore the lake on a boat ride. The lake shoreline is toned with beauty, fresh hair, and a serene atmosphere.  End the day with dinner and overnight at sunset.

Day 11: Full day relaxation at Lake Kivu.

Out for refreshment and Fun, you will spend this entire day at the shoreline of Lake Kivu; Rwanda’s largest lake, surrounded by green plants and islands. Wide beaches open wide with the atmosphere covered by clear clouds. You will swim, have a boat ride, and enjoy lip-smacking kinds of seafood.  Happy, and safe, the sunset comes with dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 12: Departure.

After a remarkable breakfast at the lodge, you will depart Lake Kivu to Kigali for lunch, before proceeding to the airport for your flight to the next destination.
