The 3 Days safari to Virunga National Park in Eastern D.R. Congo takes you through a life-changing mountain gorilla trekking experience. Virunga is the oldest African National Park, established in 1925 and encompasses over 7800sq.km of land area.
It holds quarter of the world’s 1063 endangered mountain gorillas whose DNA is 98% similar to that of humans. These unique apes share the same habitat with other primates and over 700 bird species.

Day 1: Visit the Virunga National Park in D.R. Congo
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and after, you will be picked up by the driver and you will leave after a short briefing about your trip. Set off for city tour within Kigali and you will be exploring historical sites like the Kigali memorial center and local markets then have lunch meal.
Leave for Goma in D.R. Congo, 4 to 5 hours’ drive through Gisenyi border with en-route views of the lush forests, plantations and spectacular Virunga Volcanoes at a distance. Get to Goma early and you will be checking in at the lodge for a leisurely dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2- Go gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park – Congo
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and driver will pick you up, transfer to Bukima patrol post for briefing on the dos and don’ts for gorilla trekking in Congo’s Virunga N/Park. You will be allocated to one of the 8 habituated Virunga gorilla families. The actual trekking through the rainforest starts at 8:00 am, and depending on your speed of hiking and nature of the habitat, expect to last 2-6 hours.
At a distance of about 8-10 meters, you will be observing mountain gorillas as they bond, play and groom each other. After, start trekking back to Bukima and proceed to the lodge for relaxation. In the evening/late afternoon, visit Senkwekwe gorillas or nature walk around the park area.
Day 3: Depart for Kigali via Goma border
Enjoy a hefty breakfast and after, meet the driver for transfer back to Kigali. Early arrival at Kigali and you will be dropped at a comfortable hotel or airport for departure back home or the next destination.
