Overview
The Rwanda Gorilla tour will take you to Volcanoes national park which is located in the Virunga Mountains and this will be through gorilla trekking. This is one of the unique experiences in Africa where you meet close human relatives that share almost 98% of DNA.
Another experience will be visiting Lake Kivu where you will take part in a boat cruise with options for swimming, fishing, sunbathing and more. There will be another option of visiting the gorilla guardian village also called Iby’iwachu cultural Centre while in Volcanoes national park. On the last day of your tour, you will visit Kigali city-based attractions like the local markets, the art and gallery centers and the Kigali genocide memorial center.
Detailed Itinerary
Day1. Transfer to Volcanoes national park
Be picked up at any point in Kigali and immediately embark on a journey that lasts 3 to 4 hours to Volcanoes national park depending on the speed of the safari driver. The journey to this park which is located in the northern part of Rwanda covered with great scenery such as a thousand hills. You will spend the best of your evening at the lodge having leisure time.
Day2. Gorilla trekking experience
You will encounter gorillas in their natural state after the briefing exercise. This exercise is important to you and the wildlife in form of protection and conservation. The rules and regulations won’t be missed such as don’t make noise, don’t repeat after the gorillas, keeping a distance of about 10m, and following the park ranger’s instructions very crucial many more. The park rangers together with the porters will take you into the forest to begin the experience. You need to carry enough dry king water since the experience involves walking and hiking long distances, energy-giving snacks, hiking boots, a raincoat since you can’t predict African weather and much more.
On lacing the gorilla family, have a great one hour in their presence and then head out of the forest. You will have an optional activity of visiting the Iby’iwachu Cultural Centre where you get entertained through Rwandese cultural music and dances, story tales and many more. It’s also known as the gorilla guardian village in Rwanda. Later on, head back to the lodge for your dinner and night’s rest.
Day3. Transfer to lake Kivu
Head to Lake Kivu for a boat cruise where you will enjoy great moments covered with beautiful surroundings. Other activities that you can enjoy can be swimming, sunbathing, visiting Idjwi Island with its stunning view and much more. This day will be of memories since you Willa have another experience of the waters on their way.
Day4. Head back to Kigali and a short city tour
Leave Lake Kivu in the morning after breakfast and transfer to Kigali with great scenery good for photos. Arriving in Kigali after 3 hours and taking a short city tour of city-based attractions like Rwanda genocide Centre, art and galleries, local markets, and many more. Have lunch at one of the local restaurants and then be dropped off at the airport this will be the end of 4 days of Rwanda gorillas & Lake Kivu.
