Overview
Enjoy this safari where you will visit gorillas in Rwanda and Uganda through gorilla trekking expeditions. You will also take part in visiting Dian Fossey’s graveyard and a city tour in Kigali to visit places like the Rwanda genocide memorial grounds, local markets and art centers.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi National Park from Kampala
Begin the safari with a transfer to Bwindi National Parks, a park that is home to almost half of mountain gorilla population with 21 habituated gorilla families. A road trip to this great park rewards you with a stopover at the Uganda equator to take photos and have great memories. You can also buy some handmade crafts.
Another stopover will be at one of the roadside restaurants. The whole journey takes about 8 hours’ drive but is of great reward and encounter. Arrive and check in at the lodge for your overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and cross to Kigali Rwanda
Head to the park offices for briefing and meet the gorillas in the jungle. The briefing is very important since the guidelines will be well-speculated. Among them are don’t feed wild animals, always keeping a distance of about 10m, don’t litter the park premises and much more. Pe positioned in a group of 8 people to trek with a single gorilla family.
The ranger will explain each and every attraction you will meet and this will create everlasting memories. Spend an hour in the presence of gorillas watching their movements, behaviours and many more. After lunch crosses to Rwanda and spend a night in Kigali city.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes national park and hike Dian Fossey graveyard
Transfer to Volcanoes national park in the morning with another dose of adventure in its own way. Volcanoes national park is located in the Virunga Mountains and is known for homing the gorillas and the rare golden monkeys. It’s one of the oldest national parks in Africa and is known to be the home of Dian Fossey’s grave.
On arrival, you will take a hike to the grave of Dian Fossey and learn more about this primatologist researcher who sacrificed her life to save the mountain gorillas. Meet primates like golden monkeys, gorillas, varvet monkeys and much more. The experience will take about 2 to 3 hours. After checking in the lodge for your accommodation.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking experience in Rwanda
Head to the park offices for a briefing where the guideline to follow while in the forest will be given and explained to you. They won’t be different from those in Bwindi National Park.
The experience will begin under the guidance of the park ranger guide and it will last between 2 to 8 hours including an hour that will be spent with a face-to-face interaction with the gorilla. After the overall experience, you will return to the lodge and this will be the end of the day.
Day 5: Depart to Kigali and city tour
This will be the last day of your safari and it will end after a city tour where you will visit places like Rwanda genocide memorial grounds, the local markets of Kimironko, art centers, presidential palace museum and much more. The tour will end after a drop-off at Kigali international Airport.
