Overview
On this 10-days Uganda safari, you are going to visit 4 national Parks of Uganda and they include; Murchison falls national park in the North West, Kibale and Queen Elizabeth in the south-west and Bwindi impenetrable national Park in the extreme southwestern part of Uganda.
While in Murchison falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, you will take part in game drives and boat cruises where you will view a lot of wildlife. In Kibale National Park, you will engage in chimpanzee trekking adventure and Bwindi impenetrable national Park is famous for mountain gorilla trekking.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
When you land at the airport in Entebbe, the long awaiting driver guide will welcome and brief you immediately then drive you out of Entebbe to the hotel in Kampala and enjoy your late dinner.
Day 2: Drive to Murchison falls national park via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary
Early in the morning, enjoy breakfast then drive to Murchison falls national park which is the largest park in the whole of Uganda not only that, it is hosting the strongest waterfalls in the whole world. You’ll have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to trek the rhinos for 2 hours. After this, you’ll leave for your lunch and then continue with the drive to the park and check-in at the hotel.
Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise
Wake up to an early breakfast then set off for a game drive where your eyes are going to be stunned with a great view of a variety of animals like Cape buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, lions and leopards on a lucky day, antelopes species like oribis, waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeest among others. Return to the lodge for lunch.
Later on in the afternoon, head for a boat cruise along the Nile, hippos, and crocodiles on the banks of the river will be seen, as birds on the shores and other animals which visit the river to quench thirst and bathing during the hot days, have a great time for taking photos then Retreat to the lodge for dinner.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After enjoying breakfast in the morning, set off from Murchison falls national park to Kibale National Park which is located in the southwestern part of Uganda. The drive will be quite long and you will enjoy your lunch along the way. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking
Chimpanzee trekking is one of the most done activities in Kibale National Park, it starts very early in the morning with a heavy breakfast at the lodge where you are spent your night and after enjoying breakfast the driver guide will pick you up and drop you at Kanyanchu visitor centre where you will be briefed shortly about the rules followed while trekking chimpanzees in the tropical forest of Kibale.
You will be given a well-experienced Park guide who will lead you through the whole experience and a park ranger who will be ensuring that you are safe. Trekking in Kibale National Park takes 5-7 hours and most of the hours are spent searching for chimpanzees because they keep moving to look for what to eat. But when you come to see any of the chimpanzee family, you ate allowed to spend one hour in their presence and watch them do their daily work. Move back to the lodge enjoy your late lunch and relax later.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national and Boat cruise
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the lodge then drive out of Kibale National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is also located in the foot hills of Rwenzori Mountain you will be enjoying seeing the mountain ranges while on your drive to the park. Check-in at the lodge, relax a bit, have lunch then head for a boat cruise on Kazinga channel.
Have a look at lake Edward, lake George, animals like elephants, and buffaloes on the banks of the river and birds as well. Return to the lodge.
Day 7: Morning game drive and drive to Bwindi impenetrable national Park
Having had breakfast in the morning, you will drive to the Ishasha sector which is located in the southern part of the park for a game drive. Ishasha is well known to be the home for the rare tree-climbing lions in the whole of Uganda and while on your game drive, you will spot the lions that spend more of their lifetime in the large fig trees of the park. After a game drive, continue with the drive to Bwindi impenetrable national Park and you are going to enjoy your lunch along the way.
Day 8: Mountain gorilla trekking
Today, wake up very early in the morning have breakfast then transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing and permits if you didn’t book them earlier. In the briefing, they will tell you about the rules and regulations followed while trekking the mountain gorillas. After all that, you will start on your search for mountain gorillas in the forest with a help of a ranger guide. The search for mountain gorillas takes 1-7 hours or even more than that because they keep moving through the forest searching for what to survive on.
When you land on one of the families, you are only allowed to spend one hour in their presence because even though they are used to human presence, they remain wild. After your one-hour enjoyment, move back to the offices meet your driver guide and move back to the lodge.
Day 9: Travel to Kampala
On this relaxing day, you will wake up at any time, have your breakfast and check out from the lodge drive back to Kampala. Stop over at the equator for some photographic moments and lunch then embark on your drive to Kampala. Optional city tour.
Day 10: Return to Kampala / Entebbe. Fly back
Wake up, have breakfast and the driver guide will drop you at the airport for check in and wait for your time of flight.
