Our 4 days Double Gorilla trekking in Uganda begins in Kampala or Entebbe then leads to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the once in a lifetime opportunity of encountering the mountain gorillas in two different gorilla trekking regions. It is a priceless moment that makes you appreciate Africa’s magical and endowed wilderness.

Nothing beats the feeling of trekking and encountering mountain gorillas twice during a single safari and be prepared for that moment.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Drive to Nkuringo sector – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

On the first day of your short gorilla safari, meet and greet with your Safari guide and be briefed on the itinerary entailing the destinations to be visited. It is from here that you will receive your receipts, gorilla permits, schedules (where necessary) then begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in South-western Uganda. The 8-9 hours’ journey and is marked by beautiful sceneries such as vast banana plantations, lush rolling hills of Kigezi and many others.

Make a stop at Uganda Museum for 30 minutes of photography, Equator experiments, stretch legs and possibly take some coffee. Proceed to Mbarara Town for Lunch and straight to Nkuringo sector, in the south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.  Nkuringo sector is one of the raw gorilla trekking sectors of Bwindi with about 3 habituated gorilla groups that include Christmas, Bushaho and Nkuringo. Your arrival at the park will be welcomes by densely forested hills and terraced hills among others, then connect to your Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Trekking Mountain gorillas in Nkuringo sector and drive to Rushaga sector

Rise and shine for breakfast and get ready for the briefing at the Park Headquarters on the rules and regulations of the activity. Later be allocated a gorilla group to trek and with your ranger guide and well as porters begin the trek in the jungles, to search for the allocated gorilla group. Along the way encounters numerous bird species that call this Park home, other forest mammals such as elephants, forest buffaloes, bushbucks, duikers, giant forest hogs, primates-black and white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, olive baboons and red-tailed monkeys, butterflies and Amphibians that also call this dense rainforest home.

Gorilla treks here last from half an hour to over 5 hours, depending on the location of the allocated gorilla group as well as pace of trekking but after they are found, one hour is allocated to take photos and observe their outstanding behavior. Get back to the trailhead (Park Headquarters) to receive your trekking certificate and continue to the Lodge for Lunch. Later embark on a transfer to Rushaga sector for dinner and overnight as well as relaxation as you wait for your second gorilla trek in Rushaga sector.

Day 3: Trekking Mountain gorillas in Rushaga sector and Batwa Community Experience.

Start your third day with breakfast and prepare yourself for yet another adventurous trek in a different gorilla trekking region. Your second gorilla trek will be in Rushaga sector, home to the highest number of gorilla groups that include Mishaya, Nshongi, Busingye, Bweza, Kutu, Rwigi, Mucunguzi, Kahungye and Bikingi. Continue to the Park Headquarters for briefing by the Park Warden and later start your unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure in this sector. Along the trek encounter numerous forest inhabitants, even those that were missed during the previous trek in Nkuringo sector.

Within 30 minutes to 4 hours, you will find the allocated gorilla group of which you will spend one hour in their midst to observe and take photos. Gorilla encounters create memories that last a lifetime and later return back to the Lodge for Lunch. In the evening you will enjoy a wonderful community experience near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Don’t miss out the Batwa communities, their traditional dances, hunting techniques and many other interesting activities. A wonderful way to wind-up your day.

Day 4: Drive back to Entebbe International Airport or Kampala City. End of tour.

After an amazing breakfast, begin your journey to Kampala City for dinner and overnight in the booked hotel or to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight. This marks the end of your 4 days double gorilla trekking in Uganda.
