4 Days Bwindi Gorillas & Lake Mburo

The 4 Days Bwindi Gorillas and Lake Mburo Safari takes you to lush Tropical rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south-western Uganda for gorilla trekking and the savannah plains of Lake Mburo National Park in western Uganda for wildlife viewing tours.

With interesting activities such as gorilla trekking, game drives, cultural tours and boat rides, expect to see Defassa waterbucks, Oribis, common elands, Impalas, Cape buffaloes, warthogs, Olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys, Topis, Burchell’s Zebras, leopards, duikers, bushbucks and many others. Starting and ending point for this safari is Kampala City, Uganda.

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Pick-up from any location in Kampala City for a drive to Lake Mburo National Park.

Pick-up from any location in Kampala by your safari guide after breakfast for a road trip to western Uganda, about 3-4 hours’ drive to the spectacular Lake Mburo National Park. This short drive involves making a stop at Uganda Equator along the Kampala-Masaka road for the Equator experiments to prove how the Earth is divided into south and north hemispheres.

Go on with the drive until Lake Mburo National Park through Sanga or Nshara Gates and make sure to spot the different wildlife species en-route to the Lakeside Restaurant. Have Lunch while enjoying views of the Lake, different bird and wildlife species and at 2:00pm begin the boat ride on Lake Mburo. The sights of wetland and aquatic bird species such as African fish eagles, pied and giant kingfishers, shoebills storks as well as Nile crocodiles and Hippos on the shores will not be missed.

Day 2: Undertake the rewarding game drive in L. Mburo N/park and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Arise with the Tropical sun for breakfast and later a game drive through the different Park’s game tracks where zebras, common elands, impalas, Bohor reedbucks, Klipspringer, Cape buffaloes, Oribis, Topis, Rothschild giraffes, the wetland-dwelling Sitatunga, warthogs, olive baboons, bushbucks, vervet monkeys and Defassa waterbucks occupying the wetlands, thickets, Rock outcrops and many other habitats.

After this amazing game drive through Lake Mburo National Park, embark on a road transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through Mbarara Town and the rolling hills of Kigezi, with arrival being in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Mountain gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and community/village walks.

Wake up for an early breakfast and converge at the Park Headquarters (Rushaga, Ruhija, Nkuringo or Buhoma) for briefing on the guidelines of trekking mountain gorillas. All these end by 8:00am when the actual treks through the jungles begin. Start the search for mountain gorillas in the company of armed Ranger guide, porters and fellow trekkers, lasting 1-5 hours.

Trek through the lush vegetation, ascend and descend hills, walk through valleys and jump rivers before the mountain gorillas are found as they rest, munch on their food, play or groom each other are be thrilled by the infants entertaining visitors. Make sure to have enough memory space and extra batteries to capture different shots and this Lasts one hour. Walk back to the Lodge for Lunch. If time permits or if you still feel energetic undertake a walk through Bakiga or Batwa communities to immerse yourself in their jaw-dropping cultures and return back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Leave Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and scenic drive back to Kampala City.

Breakfast at the Lodge and embark on a return trip to Kampala City with a stop at Mbarara Town or Igongo Cultural Center for Lunch. You will have another stop at Mpambire Drum makers for purchase different drum souvenirs to remind you of this unforgettable tour.
