Tour overview
Welcome to an 8 Days Uganda safari. This tour is a deal for those who are interested in the world’s big five – Rhino, Elephant, Lion, Buffalo and Leopard, amazing game drives, chimpanzee tracking, gorilla trekking, cultural tours, nature walks, and relaxation on Uganda’s deepest lake Bunyonyi.
By the end of the tour, one will have acquired knowledge about the flora and fauna of Uganda, especially for those places visited.
Day 1. Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and Rhino tracking in Ziwa Rhino sanctuary.
In the morning at 7:30 am after your breakfast, our professional driver will pick you up from your hotel and you embark on your journey. This journey will take you about a 6-7-hours’ drive from Kampala/Entebbe. Drive along smooth roads via Kampala – Gulu highway.
Branch at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking, which will take you about 2 hours, and later continue to Masindi Hotel for lunch enroute. After lunch, embark on the journey to Murchison Falls National Park which is the main destination. You will reach in the evening, check in your hotel for relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2. Game drive and Boat cruise.
You will wake up early in the morning at around 6:30 am, and you go for a short briefing before you go for a game drive. After this briefing, you will embark on the game drive, the activity that will give you a chance to meet nocturnal animals like lions, and leopards winding up on their hunting. You will also see grazers like buffaloes, antelopes, and browsers like giraffes and elephants. After this activity which will have lasted for 2-3 hours, you will go back to the hotel for breakfast, relax at the hotel as you wait for the mouthwatering lunch and by 3:00 pm, you will go for a boat cruise at the bottom of the falls.
This exercise will take you through different herds of elephants, hippos, Nile crocodiles, and water birds. This is one of the most amazing activities in Murchison Falls National Park since it’s also a link to the hike to the top of the falls. After this beautiful activity, you will go back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park and walk to Bigodi swamp.
On this day you will pack your luggage as early as 7:00 am, have breakfast and transfer to Kibale national park. This journey takes about 2 to 3 hours. Check in at your hotel, have lunch, and in the evening at 3:00 pm you will have a walk to Bigodi wetland, you will meet different birds since Kibale is another bird harboring place, spot the vervet monkeys and red-tailed monkeys.
Visit local communities and see how the people around survive or their ways of life. This is a tremendous activity since it exposes you to a different culture.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park is the best activity world over since the park has the world’s largest Chimpanzee population, this makes this park famous for its chimpanzee trekking.
Wake up as early as 6:30 am, go for a short briefing and then embark on trekking, this is done very early in the morning because it gives you higher chances of seeing chimpanzees when they are still in their nests and feeding their young ones.
As you are trekking chimpanzees, the park is also endowed with over 350 bird species, over 299 tree species, and over 250 butterflies. After this activity, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will reach in the afternoon hours, check in at the hotel, and go for a launch cruise on Kazinga Channel, this is regarded as the best activity in Queen Elizabeth national park, you will be able to see wildlife including, elephants swimming, hippos playing in the water, crocodiles sunbathing, buffaloes drinking water, antelopes and water birds. After this activity, you will go back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6. Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
You will wake up as early as 6:30 am and go for a briefing on how you will conduct yourself while you are in the jungle. After your briefing, you will embark on a game drive, an activity that makes the park famous for its various animals including lions, elephants and buffaloes. Also enjoy the endless plains of the park, after that, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest check-in the hotel and go for Batwa cultural tour in the afternoon.
Enjoy the experience of the Batwa culture, this you should expect dance, names, nicknames, food, and how they settled in the forest.
Day 7. Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Get up as early as 6:30 am, put on your sturdy shoes and go for a short briefing on how you will conduct yourself in the forest. After briefing, embark on the journey to see humans’ closest relatives while they are playing, feeding their young ones and how they socialize.
Also meet different bird species, butterflies and also not forget the best sceneries that the park can give. After this activity which lasts for 2-7 hours, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. On arrival check in at your hotel and go on Bakiga cultural tour. This will give you a vast background about the Bakiga people and their culture.
Lake Bunyonyi is also famous for its green terraced hills; also known as the deepest lake in Uganda and it gives a chilly ambiance after long days on the safaris. You will come back to the hotel for dinner and chilly nights.
Day 8. Boat cruise and transfer back to Kampala.
You will wake up as early as 7:30 am and go for a boat on Lake Bunyonyi. Visit different islands on this lake, for example, Bwama island which is the largest, and Akampene island – the smallest island, Bucuranuka with the historical attachment. After this activity, check out of the hotel and embark on your journey to Kampala.
Have your stopover at Igongo country hotel for lunch and continue with the journey. Visit the Ankole museum and see some of the cultural representations and also some portraits of the Ankole kings. You will continue with the journey and next stopover will be the equator. You will have a chance to stand where the world is at zero degrees. Take pictures, buy souvenirs in case you want, and then continue to Kampala / Entebbe.
