9 Days Uganda Safari

Overview

Uganda is the most beautiful country with a number of attractions which forced several explorers to come and visit Uganda including Sir. Winston Churchill who revealed its beauty more and ended up giving it an amazing name that she deserved as Uganda “the pearl of Africa”. Planning your safari to Uganda will lead you to the most amazing places plus activities that are memorable.

It will take you to Murchison falls national park which is the biggest park in Uganda that harbors most of the wildlife including all the big five you need to know. Though it brings you to all the big five animals, Queen Elizabeth national park is the always best for these creatures due to its rare tree-climbing lions which you can’t find in any protected area in Uganda.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival at the airport and transfer to Murchison falls national park

Getting to the airport be welcomed by our driver guide who will let you know everything about the safari in a short period as soon as he picks you up and then drive heading to Murchison to catch up with time. The first stopover will be at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to trek rhinos that got a chance and survived in the wild. The next stop will be in Masindi for lunch thereafter you will to the booked lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2. Game drive and boat cruise

Arise early morning with the sun rays then have your breakfast and set off for the early morning game drive in Murchison fall national park. Spot and record most of the interesting wildlife, for example, giant elephants, buffalos, bushbuck, bush pigs, warthog, antelopes and many more including different bird species mostly the savannah birds such as the Abyssinian ground hornbill which occasionally appear and many common ones.

Drive to the lodge to have your lunch then after back on your journey for the last activity which is the most selling in Murchison falls national park. Boat ride in Murchison falls NP always starts at the bottom and takes you up to the top of the falls.

Day 3. Transfer to Kibale national park

Kibale national park also known as the primate capital of the world located in the western region takes to about 9 hours to reach the park direct a way from Murchison falls national park. You will have a stopover in Fort Portal the tourism city for lunch before you continue to the booked hotel/ lodge to check-in. Finalize with lunch, stretch due to the long journey and proceed to the lodge.

Day 4. Chimpanzees trekking and coffee experience

Chimpanzees’ trekking is normally conducted early morning reason being chimpanzees are always active in the early hours as they search for food, patrolling and also alarming to call a neighbor for a morning greeting. Therefore, after your delicious breakfast, your driver guide will directly drive you to Kanyanchu visitor’s center where all park activities start from for briefing. They will lead you into the jungles in search of chimpanzees and see how too close these primates are to humans.

After returning to the lodge for lunch and head to Isunga community for afternoon coffee experience. The well-trained guide will lead you into the fields, including coffee gardens and explain more about this plant from day one to day last of the harvest. The experience will probably end with a demonstration of how coffee can be made locally without any additional chemicals or use of machines. You will retreat to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay after the experience.

Day 5. Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park, evening game drive

From Kibale forest national park to Queen Elizabeth takes only 4 hours’ drive depending on your speed therefore, you will start your journey immediately after breakfast. You will go while exploring crater lakes.

Continue and check in with the booked lodge for lunch and after head for the evening game drive in the central sector in Kasenyi. There high chance of spotting most of the wildlife – rare lions, elephants, buffalo, warthogs and antelopes. After, drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6. Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

On your 6 days of Uganda safari, you will transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park which is known to be the home of 459 gorillas that makes up almost a half the number of gorillas in the whole world. The park does not harbor only gorillas but also many other primates, mammals and different bird species. You will check in with the booked lodge and relax with optional activities.

Day 7. Gorilla trekking and cultural encounters

this park is a home to almost a half number of gorillas in the whole world, on this day you will wake up early morning for your breakfast as early as possible and drive to the park offices to meet a park ranger guide to brief you about the walk and lead you in search for gorillas. Only one hour is provided to spend while in their presence with them. After a great experience, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch and prepare for the next activity in the afternoon.

In the afternoon after your delicious lunch, you will drive to the community for the Batwa experience which is most interesting as hear stories from elders about how they used to stay and survive in the forest. Batwa are people who used to stay in the jungle of Bwindi forest and when the government conserved the area they were forced to leave the forest and start staying in the community. They were food gatherers, and hunters and they could use herbs for treatment. After retreating to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8. Depart to Lake Mburo national park,

Lake Mburo national park is located a few kilometers from Bwindi forest impenetrable national so you will have your breakfast and start your journey. Your stopover will be in Mbarara city for lunch then later continue to check in with the booked hotel/lodge. In the afternoon, relax with an optional activity.

Day 9. Morning game drives and depart to Kampala.

On your last day of the safari, you will wake very early in the morning for the breakfast and check out with the lodge heading back to Kampala with your last activity as a game drive or walking safari. You will spot most of the animals mostly the predators that wake up early to hunt
